Transforming Wesley Memorial Church with a Bespoke Library Design

At SPB Carpentry & Joinery, we are excited to share our proposed library design for the Wesley Memorial Church in Oxford, situated just a short walk from the Westgate Shopping Centre.  This project reflects our dedication to creating custom furniture that combines style, practicality, and craftsmanship, tailored to unique spaces and needs.

Every SPB project starts with a detailed 3D drawing to help clients see exactly how the finished furniture will look in their space. For the Wesley Memorial Church, this step allows us to visualize how the library will integrate seamlessly into the space, ensuring it complements the church’s historic charm while meeting its practical needs.

The library will be constructed from solid pine, combining traditional materials with carefully considered features. File drawers will provide practical storage for essential documents, while glazed doors will add a refined touch, offering visibility to the books and items within. Solid brass detailing, including radiator cover grilles, air vents, and flush-fitted adjustable shelving strips, will elevate the design with a premium finish. The adjustable shelving ensures the library can adapt to changing needs, offering flexibility for its users. To complete the design, a rolling ladder will provide both function and timeless charm, allowing easy access to high shelves while enhancing the overall aesthetic.

This project reflects our commitment to preserving the heritage of Wesley Memorial Church while introducing a functional and elegant library that will serve the congregation and community for years to come.
